He was initially very excited on the first day when I put on his school uniform, take picture of him in his school uniform and show him his school bag… he was walking happily to the childcare at first and went immediately into the childcare centre to start his exploring when he suddenly realized that I am not around anymore….
He screamed and cried for so long, so pitifully, so breathlessly and so consistently throughout his barely two hours at the childcare… His eyes were swollen when I picked him up, he couldn’t nap well and his voice turned hoarse after the second day…. Daddy and mummy’s hearts ache a lot when we see that…
At the same time, we were also quite unhappy with how the teachers handled the kids in the centre too….I realized that the children’s activities did not follow the pre scheduled time-table and I didn’t see any effort in trying to engage XH into their activities with other children. They are more like providing “caring services” rather than “teaching” …. Maybe because this is a child care centre, so what they do seem to be just killing time rather than value adding. Meals portion is also very small and the kids are rushed to complete their food. If they can’t finished and not keen to eat anymore, the teacher will then pour away the food – because another class is coming….
All these disappointing observations + XH’s sad face whenever we asked him if he wants to go school made us really sad... hence, when BJG told us that there’s a vacancy for XH for their weekday class… we immediately withdraw him from the childcare and enrolled him to BJM…one more angry thing about the childcare is they refuse to pro-rate the fees and refund the remaining school fees for the month....$$$ heart pain on the money wasted $$$ .....
Luckily, XH first day at BGJ is less traumatizing with less cries. He's not sad when I pick him up from school and he was so cheerful and happy after he went back home that day... I guess it could be because the environment is more familiar to him and that he is more experience now for schoold. The teachers also played a big part as I noticed that they are more child friendly as compared to the childcare… at least the $$$ spent is worth it....
Look at his 'before 'and 'after' school look!
