Kids = happiness ????

If you are wondering if kids = happiness and whether having many more kids = more happiness, this is what I think....



There is something that my hubby likes to say all the time: “If I am not married and do not have children, I can now drive my sports car around Singapore with pretty girl sitting beside me, I can laze around at home doing nothing for one whole day without anyone disturbing me, and go anywhere I like anytime without second thoughts”……blah blah blah….. Yes, if you think getting married will restrict your freedom to certain extent, then having children will mean (almost) no freedom for your own personal time at all, unless you specially plan and specifically set aside a time for it!

This is what most people who have no children will think before they have children (including me). I used to even equate the happiness that children can bring me to the same joy that my dog (miki) is also capable of bringing me. However, after being (a part time) mum to my previous XH for more than a year, I realized that the happiness and joy of having children is unlimited and unpredictable. Comparing your dog’s excited expression at the door when he welcomes you back home to your baby’s “blur/bo chap” expression at you even after you have tried to do many silly gestures in front of him for the last few minutes…. This makes me treasure the smile or reaction of my kid even more (I’m sorry, miki…). The best happiness come from the many surprises that you see in his development, his actions, his words, etc. as he grows….If this happiness can be rated, it will definitely be infinity on the scale…

Whether having more kids will mean more happiness? I think is yes. Since you have already no more freedom to be deprived of, having more kids would mean many more happiness, much more than individually from them all. Just like the way synergy works, having X children may create more than X times of happiness…. Yes, it’s time for more…heee J
