... to the Library, my boy....

Reading and going to the library is something which mummy hated most in school. But we all know the importance of reading.... In order to prevent him from following my footsteps... we have decided to stimulate his interst in books and start cultivating it as a habit for XH at an earlier age.

About one to two months ago, we brought him to the library for the first time. I was amazed by the many different variety of books that I can find there. At first, we were quite hesitant to bring him to the library at his age because we were afraid that XH will tear off all the pages from the book. But I am wrong, there are many hard cover books suitable for toddler in the library... there's english and chinese books containing pop-up pages and pages with different textures for him to feel...

When XH first stepped into the library, he was very excited - not with the books but with the bookshelves - he went round and between the shelves non-stop as if he's in a maze, not forgetting to turn his head around to see if you are chasing him from behind. He even say "or-or" when he found books on the floor... (hee, that's because we always say "hor-hor" to him when he pull out things from the cupboard. Haha!)

Glad that he likes "reading" the books now. See! he finds great achievement in flipping the pages and enjoy looking at the pictures in the books... however, his interest is still with the book rather than the story in it. We are still trying to teach him to flip from first page to the last page and listen to us reading the story from beginning to end....
